Bartending options for a wedding?
We're getting married in July of 2010 and planning well in advance. One thing we're really caught up on is the alcohol part of the event. Pay-per-person, pay-per-hour, pay for the first two drinks, supply our own liquor and alcohol, hire a bartender to serve and pay them for the drinks? If you've had experience with this, please let us know!
We're very laid back and want everyone to have a great time dancing, drinking, and being merry. It's going to be at a little camp-like place wtih a lodge and fireplace and firepit and private cottages and bunk beds and what-not. I kind of like the idea of just supplying a handful of different beers, some wine and champagne, and a mixed drink. And of course the non-alcoholic drinks and coffees, but those aren't the problem. We're mostly beer drinkers (our friends and ourselves, the family's more mixed and wine). Just a little insight to help with suggestions. Thanks!
Luckily, we've found a venue that allows us to bring in our own alcohol.
So, we're going to have a friend make us a bar as a wedding present and we're going to stock it with two kegs with two different beers, some liquors (I'm going to let our family members choose their favorites), and a blender and some margarita mix.
Then, I'll have some wine as well.
We'll also have soda and water and our caterer might be supplying us with a lemonade assortment as it comes with the package.
If you can supply most of your alcoholic beverages, I would suggest you do that. Especially because what doesn't get consumed can be taken home with you, the same for the soda and water.
If you can't bring your own because of venue choice, I would probably try to do a pay by the hour if you have that option. Otherwise, I think paying for the first two drinks is a good option. That way, those who don't drink could "give away" their drinks to those who do.
Good luck!
