98 monte carlo, half shaft wont install. On second one trying still a no go even took off circlip still wont?
Auto zone gave me a second one to try as they seem to think it is a burr issue. Well that one doesn't go in either. I think they gave me a wrong axle shaft. I even took off the circlip to see if that was hanging me up, old half shaft slides right in. Should i go take it back and go somewhere else and get one. They don't seem to know what the hell they are talking about there. I have done more than 20 of these on different cars and never once had this issue. Should I take a file and file the cars side of the spline to see if there is a burr there? I doubt that is it though because the old one slides right in with no problem.
take a set of calipers to it. and compare to old one. The cheap half shafts are made pretty generically to fit more than one model. there is a difference if shaft is for vehicle with ABS or not also. they are giving you the wrong shaft part number if old one goes in, Do some measurin on shaft diameter and spline widths and depths and see what ya get.
