How do I incorporate a white picket fence, flowers, and butterflies mural into a teenage girl's room?
I am redecorating my room. And my mom made me this really cute mural with butterflies, flowers, and a white picket fence mural when I was little. I want to keep the mural, but I want my room to look mature as well. Any help?
It sounds delightful. And there is nothing "immature" about the beauty of nature.
How about mounting a few small planter boxes along the top of your "fence"? Pine boxes would be the least expensive. You might have Dad or an uncle or friend construct them for you. Paint them white , fill them with garden wood chips and sprinkle the chips with a few drops of essential oil (something earthy). Toss in a few garden ornaments )fairies, gnomes. statuettes of squirrels, etc.
Maybe add a 2x4 to one end of the mural Faux paint it like a tree trunk. Decorate a pre-assembled bird house and mount it to the wall at the top of the "tree!.
To add more texture and dimension to your room, find a fallen tree branch that still has a few leaves attached. Snip off the leaves. (Eucalyptus is perfect for this) Allow the branch to dry in a very erect position. Once dry, "plant" the branch in a terra cotta pot filled with plaster of paris. Allow the plaster to thoroughly harden. Place your "tree" in a corner. Be sure it's stable and there's no danger of tipping over. Add a bird nest among the remaining branches a few decorative birds and/or butterflies.
It will feel like you're living in a lovely meadow!
