i would like to plant some catnip amongst some perennials, is this an aggressive plant?
If by "aggressive" you mean "invasive", then the answer is YES - it does spread and tends to take up as much area around the first clump as you will allow. It is very vigorous and if you divide the clump in the autumn, after it's stopped flowering, you'll soon have a garden full of it. I suppose you could try and contain it by planting it in a buried container, so as to limit the roots' spread. We have it in our garden, far too much of it, but the cat loves it...
