The Necessity For A Pool Cover
What purpose does a pool cover serve? Mainly because a pool's energy is reduced in a number of ways. The main cause for such energy loss in swimming pools is evaporation.
Losing water through evaporation uses a great deal of energy. In order to raise a pound of water by one degree, it takes one Btu (British thermal unit). By contrast, each pound of evaporated water at 80 F eliminates 1,048 Btus of pool heat.
There are certain conditions such as the air temperature and humidity, pool temperature and wind speed that effect this process. A larger evaporation rate will occur when the humidity is lower and the pool temperature and wind speed are higher. Doing certain things such as adding in wind breaking fences, shrubs and trees help reduce such evaporation. These elements must be very close to the pool and be very tall so that they will not cause increased turbulence over the pool that will increase the evaporation rate further. Additionally, do not allow these to shade the pool from the heat source of the sun.
Use a pool cover to help minimize the evaporation levels even further. Doing so will help save money and lower heating costs. Therefore you will be able to relax in warm water that will last even onto the next day. This is because heat loss is minimized by the pool cover even when evening temperatures are low.
What's more, a pool cover will keep out twigs, leaves and other debris. Dead insects, dog toys and dirty leaves can land in your pool if you do not cover it with a proper pool cover. Unless fishing out these random items appeals to you, consider using a pool cover.
Pool maintenance is made very simple and easy with a quality cover. You will spend more time actually swimming and less time getting out the pool vacuum. Less time cleaning means more time enjoying the pool for its intended purpose. For the best selection of quality in ground and above ground pools, visit http://nationwidepools.com/.

I have an angelfish that won't eat!?
I bought the angelfish 3 days ago at a pet store. I brought her home and have tried to feed her each day. I've tried flake food and bloodworms. She doesn't come to the surface like she is hungry. She is acting normal, swimming around. She seems fine. I've had fish for years, btu I have never had an angelfish before so I don't know their normal behaviour. Water conditions are fine. I think I will do a 20% water change this afternoon because of all the uneaten food I have put in there! She is the only thing in the tank. Sometimes when the light has been out for a while I find her hiding behind a large rock in the tank. I don't know what is wrong- help!!!
Thank you ALL so much- she is finally eating!!!!!!!! Not much, but she ate some flake food
And she has been swimming around
It's normal for cichlids to respond to a new home like this, so you really shouldn't worry. it takes a lont time for them to starve and it will eat sooner or later. To help ease stress, limit lighting and make sure you have planted areas in the tank in which the Angel can hide, which will provide security.
More fish in the tank will also help the fish feel less threatened. What you should add depends on your preferences and tank size, but I would go with a shoal of a small fish that is not too timid, like rasboras or something similar. It's important to use fish that tend to stay out in the open (what are known as dither fish) - another fish that hides all the time won't help. With them swimming around the Angel will feel less threatened.
